" " I - “
he night Carole and John Ferguson
moved into their San Francisco
home, they wandered into a local
restaurant and started chatting
with the bartender. The next thing
they knew, a cake appeared with the words
“Welcome to the neighborhood!*’ squiggled
on the plate, “We suddenly felt like we were
part of the scene,” laughs Carole, in her
delightful Tennessee drawl.
Moving cross-country to be closer to
grandchildren— and making the oft-debated
decision to start from scratch in furnishing
their 1,700^square-foot condo— was a “bold
step at our age,” declares Carole. “But we can’t
believe how much we love it.”
